Turkey: MHP candidate elected Kastamonu mayor

Rahmi Galip Vidinlioglu receives some 27,000 votes, according to unofficial results

ANKARA (AA) - The candidate of Turkey’s opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has been elected mayor of the Black Sea province of Kastamonu in the country’s local elections, according to unofficial results on Sunday.


Rahmi Galip Vidinlioglu bagged 27,106 votes, while the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party received 17,121 votes.


Earlier on Sunday, millions of Turkish voters cast their ballots in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
