Turkey offers sympathy to Sri Lanka over terror attacks

President Erdogan conveys condolences to his Sri Lankan counterpart after multiple terror attacks kill at least 359 people

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday offered condolences to his counterpart in Sri Lanka over Easter Sunday terror attacks, according to presidential sources.

In a phone call, Erdogan conveyed his condolences to Maithripala Sirisena, said the sources, who refused to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

On Easter Sunday, a total of eight explosions targeted different locations in and outside Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.

The bombings hit churches in Kochchikade, Negombo and Batticaloa cities, as well as Kingsbury, Cinnamon Grand, and Shangri La hotels in Colombo where at least 359 people died.
