Turkey: Parliament head marks Anadolu Agency's centennial

Mustafa Sentop congratulates Anadolu Agency on marking 100 years of service as Turkey's premier news source

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s parliament speaker on Monday congratulated Anadolu Agency on its centennial year.

"I congratulate Anadolu Agency, which is of the same age as the Turkish Grand National Assembly,” Mustafa Sentop said in tweet.

The agency “announced [Turkey's] War of Independence to the world while being a witness to every level of it, and is filling us today with pride while turning to one of the world’s most important news agencies."

Sentop also shared a video marking the agency's centennial.

The Ankara-based news agency was established on April 6, 1920 by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founding father of the Turkish Republic.
