MUGLA, Turkey (AA) - At least two out of four suspects arrested for an armed attack on an Italian priest's killer were remanded in custody in southwestern Turkey.

Police squads rounded up the suspects identified by the initials E.D., S.K., B.A. and Y.U. in the Mediterranean Antalya province.

The suspects, E.D. and S.K., were remanded in custody over "deliberately injuring" and others were released on bail.

The arrests came after Oguzhan Akdin -- killer of the Italian priest -- and his brother Alparslan Akdin, were injured in an armed attack in the resort district of Bodrum in southwestern Mugla province.

Akdin had been sentenced to 18 years and 10 months of jail for killing Santa Maria Church priest Andrea Santoro on Feb. 5, 2006 in the Black Sea province of Trabzon, but had been freed in 2016.
