Director-General Kazanci says agency will continue to be voice of nation

ANKARA (AA) - Anadolu Agency will continue to be the voice of the Turkish nation, Board Chairman and Director-General Senol Kazanci said in his message commemorating the agency's 97th anniversary on Thursday.

"As last witnessed on July 15, Anadolu Agency will continue to be the voice of our nation today and tomorrow.

"It will continue to make Turkey’s story heard all over the world while expeditiously breaking world news to its subscribers," he said

Kazanci added that the Agency was one of the symbols of the national resistance to occupying forces about a century ago, referring to the War of Independence.

Having been founded on April 6, 1920, 17 days before the Turkish Grand National Assembly convened for the first time, Anadolu Agency helped announce the first legislation by the Assembly that established the Republic of Turkey.

During the War of Independence, the agency carried out a difficult task -- which was to defend the national struggle, and inform the international community on Turkey's rightful demands, in addition to acting carefully against the traps and tricks the Republic faced.

In his message, Kazanci thanked the agency's all employees, past and current, for their valuable contribution and hard work.

"I would also like to thank President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, and Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus for their support," he said.

Anadolu Agency currently publishes news stories in Turkish, English, Arabic, French, Kurdish, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, Russian, Albanian, Persian and Macedonian.

As a global news agency, AA is among the ten most influential in the world, providing its subscribers in 45 countries thousands of news stories, photos, videos, infographics and other information-based content through its global network of correspondents and photojournalists in 86 countries.
