Turkey's benchmark index flat at close

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rises slightly 0.09 pct at close, USD/TRY falls to around 5.28

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Wednesday up 0.09 percent to close at 104,189.45 points.

After opening the midweek trading at 104,154.24 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 91.09 points compared to the previous close.

As of the daily close, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 5.2820, down from 5.3050 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate stood at 6.0370 at Wednesday's close, versus 6.0640 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 6.9160 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.0030 at Tuesday's close.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold was sold for $1,313.80 at the daily close, up from $1,308.10 at the previous close.

On Wednesday, the price of Brent oil was around $61.80 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT), in a day-range of $60.98 to $61.95.
