Turkey's benchmark stock goes down at open

BIST 100 index drops 0.31% from Tuesday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 6.07

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the midweek trading down 0.31% or 267,65 points to open at 85,041.93 points Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell by 1.68% to close at 85,309.58 points with a daily trading volume of 5.42 billion Turkish liras (some $895.5 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.0740 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Wednesday, compared to 6.0630 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.7780, versus 6.7670, and one British pound was exchanged for 7.7260 Turkish liras, compared to the previous close at 7.7290.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $71.69 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
