Turkey's benchmark stock index flat at open

BIST 100 index rises nearly 70 points compared to Monday's close, USD/TRY stands around 5.33

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.07 percent or 69.07 points to open at 101,358.82 points on Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 0.50 percent to close the day at 101,289.75 points with a daily trading volume of 7.32 billion Turkish lira ($1.38 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.3330 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Monday's closing rate of 5.3130.

The euro/lira exchange rate was 6.1040, versus 6.0710 at the last close. One British pound was exchanged for 7.0320 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY was 7.0040 by market close on Monday.

The price of Brent oil was around $59.98 per barrel as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT) Tuesday.
