Turkey's benchmark stock index up at close

BIST 100 index rises 235.72 points from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.47

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index went up 0.23 percent to close at 102,432.29 points on Thursday.

After starting the day at 102,298.21 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 235.72 points from the previous close.

Peaking at 102,785.75 points, the BIST 100's daily low was 102,009.57 points on Thursday -- 59 stocks on the index rose, 32 fell, and nine were flat compared to the previous close.

The index posted a daily trading volume of 5.82 billion Turkish liras ($1.06 billion), closing the day with a market value of nearly 673 billion Turkish liras (some $123.5 billion).

One ounce of gold was sold for $1,298.35 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,308.00 at the previous close.

With a day range of $67.03 to $68.15, the price of Brent oil was around $67.22 per barrel as of 6.45 p.m. local time (1545GMT) on Thursday.

At the beginning of 2019, the price of Brent oil was around $53 per barrel.
