Turkey's benchmark stock index up at open

BIST 100 index rises 0.20% from Thursday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands at about 5.82

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the last business day of the week up 0.20% or 195.49 points to open at 97,081.97 points on Friday.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 1.34% to close at 96,886.48 points with a daily trading volume of 5.3 billion Turkish liras ($907 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.8260 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, compared to 5.8010 at the last close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.5590, versus 6.5450 at Thursday's close, and one British pound was exchanged for 7.5890 Turkish liras, compared to 7.5620.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $71.95 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
