Turkey's benchmark stock index up at open

BIST 100 index rises 0.97% from Wednesday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands at 6.00

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index went up 0.97% or 845.89 points to open at 88,032.19 points Thursday.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 0.47% to close at 87,186.3 points with a daily trading volume of 5.3 billion Turkish liras ($886 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.0010 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, compared to 6.0440 at Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.6930, versus 6.7360, and one British pound traded for 7.5960 Turkish liras, compared to the last close at 7.6560.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $68.17 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
