Turkey's Borsa Istanbul closes Tuesday with new record

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday with a new record-high closing level of 2,157.74 points.

Starting the day at 2,132.96 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 56.23 points, or 2.68%, from the previous close of 2,101.51 points.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,782.80 by market close, slightly down from $1,783.95 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was down 1.6% to $74.21 per barrel as of 6.16 p.m. local time (1516GMT).
