Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at close

BIST 100 index falls 1,142.32 points from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.70

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the day down 1.11% to close at 101,447.39 points on Tuesday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 102,658.76 points. As of today's close, it lost 1,142.32 points from Monday's close of 102,589.71 points.

An ounce of gold sold for $1,501.96 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,504 at the previous close.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.7000 as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) at the close of Tuesday -- down from 5.7160 at Monday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.2950, while one British pound traded for 7.1070 Turkish liras as of close.

The price of Brent oil was around $64.39 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Tuesday, with a day range of $64.28 to $69.25.

At the beginning of 2019, a barrel of Brent oil sold for around $53.
