Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at midweek close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 1,417.89 points, down 0.19%.

Starting the day at 1,420.94 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 2.71 points from Tuesday's close at 1,420.59 points.

During the day, the index hovered between 1,403.61 and 1,422.48 points. 12 stocks on the index rose, while 85 fell compared to the previous close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.08 trillion Turkish liras ($139 billion) by market close, with a daily volume of 17.5 billion Turkish liras ( $2.5 billion ).

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,735.00 by market close, down from $1,736.70 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $62.28 per barrel as of 6:15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Wednesday.
