Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at Tuesday's opening

BIST 100 index starts day with losing of over 200 points

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day at 118,113.75 points on Tuesday, down 0.24%, or 284.92 points.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 3.13% at 118,398.67 points, with a daily trading volume of 20.21 billion Turkish liras ($2.94 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 6.8660 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Tuesday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate slipped to 7.7890 from 7.8020, and one British pound traded for 8.6360 Turkish liras, versus 8.7080 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $42.27 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
