Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down on Friday opening

Index decreases 789.29 points versus yesterday's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index was down 0.68%, or 789.29 points at 115,142.77 points on Friday.

On Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went up 1.32% to 115,932.05 points with a daily trading volume of 12.3 billion Turkish liras (nearly $2 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.9640 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, up from 5.9570 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate saw 6.6630, versus 6.6630, and one British pound traded for 7.8400 Turkish liras, while it was 7.8630 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $68.17 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
