Turkey's Borsa Istanbul ends Monday with gains

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Monday up 1.61% to close at 92,249.80 points.

After starting the first business day of the week at 90,475.52 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1,462.79 points from 90,787.01 points at Friday's close.

One ounce of gold was sold for $1,336.60 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,352.50 at last week's close.

The price of Brent oil was $61.98 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Monday -- with a day range of $61.13 to $62.37.

At the beginning of 2019, a barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $53.
