Turkey's Borsa Istanbul flat at open

BIST 100 index climbs 0.07 pct compared to Friday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.07 percent or 67 points to open at 90,595.64 points on Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 0.34 percent to close the day at 90,528.64 points with a daily trading volume of 4.6 billion Turkish liras ($857.9 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped slightly to 5.3890 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with last week's closing rate of 5.3930 .

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.0990, versus 6.0840 at the last close. One British pound traded for 6.8010 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.7770 by market close on Friday.

The price of Brent oil fell to $60.24 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday, versus $60.64 on Friday's closing.
