Turkey's Borsa Istanbul flat at open

BIST 100 index loses nearly 50 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index dropped slightly by 0.04%, or 48.35 points, on Thursday to start the day at 120,000.39 points.

At the midweek's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up by 0.21% at 120,048.74 points, with a daily trading volume of 19.6 billion Turkish liras ($3.2 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.0530 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, versus 6.0370 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose slightly to 6.5890, compared to 6.5830, and one British pound traded for 7.8570 Turkish liras. It was 7.8430 at Wednesday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $55.60 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
