Turkey's Borsa Istanbul jumps over 2% at daily close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 110,114.66 points, up 2.3% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 108,555.89 points. As of the daily close, it gained 2,192.98 points from Wednesday's close of 107,921.68 points, with a daily trading volume of 10.7 billion Turkish liras (some $1.8 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.7780 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, compared to 5.8070 at Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.4450, versus 6.4410, and one British pound traded for 7.6210 Turkish liras, versus 7.6670 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $64.03 as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT).
