Turkey's Borsa Istanbul looking up at weekly open

BIST 100 index gains over 1 point from last week's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,439.75 points on Monday, up 0.07% or 1.03 points from the previous close.

At last week’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was down 0.96% to 1,438.72 points, with a daily trading volume of around 10.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.4580 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, from 8.4200 on Friday.

One euro traded for 9.9730 Turkish liras, versus 9.9620 at the previous close. The British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 11.7170, up from 11.7010.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $73.56 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
