Turkey's Borsa Istanbul slips 4.13% at Thursday close
BIST 100 loses over 4,700 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Amid global fears over the coronavirus outbreak, Turkey's benchmark stock index on Thursday closed at 110,418.37 points, falling 4.13% from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 113,975.54 points. As of the daily close, it had lost 4,752.90 points from Wednesday's close of 115,171.27 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 110,418.37 points and 114,463.57 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 770.8 billion Turkish liras ($125.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 13.9 billion Turkish liras ($.3 billion).
On the fourth transaction day of the week, two stocks on the index rose, 97 were down, and one was flat compared to Wednesday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, defense giant Aselsan, and iron/steel producer Kardemir.
Coca Cola Icecek (CCOLA) was the best performer, with its shares up 3.60%, while Borusan Mannesmann, a prominent pipe manufacturer, dropped the most, losing 16.72%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,650.00 by market close, up from $1,649.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
