Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index earns over 310 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the week at 110,331.85 points on Monday, up by 0.28%, or 310.02 points.

At Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.44% at 110,021.83 points with a daily trading volume of 11.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.7760 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Monday, compared to 6.7760 at the last week's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.6480 from 7.6540 and one British pound traded for 8.6220 Turkish liras, up from 8.6190 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $42.80 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
