Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts week looking up

BIST 100 index climbs over 190 points versus last week's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands at 5.63

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.19 percent or 192.14 points to open at 100,027.45 points on Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped by 3.45 percent to close the day at 99,835.31 points with a daily trading volume of 9.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.6300 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to Friday's closing rate of 5.6210.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 6.3700, versus 6.3530 at the last week's close.

One British pound traded for 7.4420 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.4110 at market close on Friday.

The price of Brent oil was around $66.30 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday.
