Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts week up

BIST 100 index rises around 0.11% from previous close; US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stands at 6.0750

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.11% or 98.89 points to open at 86,894.95 points Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index decreased by 0.47% to close the week at 86,796.06 points with a daily trading volume of 5.44 billion Turkish liras ($898 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.0750 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to last week's closing rate of 6.0470.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 6.7800, versus 6.7620 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 7.7510 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.6980 at market close Friday.

The price of Brent oil was around $73.24 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
