Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 0.86-pct at close

BIST 100 index up more than 870 points versus Monday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index climbed 0.86 percent to close at 101,721.05 points on Tuesday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 101,465.13 points, gaining 870.63 points from the previous close of 100,850.42 points.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 4.4590 at close, versus Monday's close of 5.4370.

The euro/lira rate increased to 6.1590 at Tuesday's close, versus 6.1180 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 7.1880 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 7.1280 at close on Monday.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,296.20 by market close.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $66.85 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Tuesday.
