Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 3.24% at close

BIST 100 index rises over 2,800 points, while Turkish lira gains in value against foreign currencies

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index jumped 3.24% to close Thursday at 90,011.62 points.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 88,032.19 points, up 2,825.32 points from Wednesday's close of 87,186.30 points.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,281.00 by market close, down from $1,285.10 the previous day.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $67.30 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Thursday.
