Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at Friday's open

BIST 100 index rises over 540 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.45%, or 541.44 points, on Friday to start the last transaction day of the week at 121,081.97 points.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.41% at 120,540.53 points.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.0500 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, versus 6.0600 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate slipped to 6.5570, versus 6.5750, and one British pound traded for 7.9070 Turkish liras. It was 7.7810 at Thursday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $56.37 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
