Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at midweek open

BIST 100 index rises over 110 points from Tuesday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands at around 5.79

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started Wednesday up 0.24% or 113.24 points to open at 95,534.29 points.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 0.25% to close at 95,421.05 points.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.7960 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, up from 5.7620 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.5880, versus 6.5730, and one British pound traded for 7.3620 Turkish liras, compared to the last close at 7.3540.

Brent oil was sold for $65.30 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
