BIST 100 index climbs 573.77 points compared to Monday's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.62 percent or 573.77 points to open at 92,627.61 points on Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 0.40 percent to close the day at 92,053.84 points with a daily trading volume of 4.77 billion Turkish liras ($864 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.4650 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Monday's closing rate of 5.4950.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also fell to 6.2720, versus 6.2960 at the last close. One British pound traded for 7.0760 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.0760 by market close on Monday.

The price of Brent oil increased to $59.80 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday, versus $58.99 at Monday's closing.
