Index rises slightly by 135 points versus Monday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opens Tuesday at 101,223.70 points with an increase of 0.13% or 134.97 points.

As of the end of Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 0.75% to 101,088.73 points with a daily trading volume of 4.9 billion Turkish liras ($862 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.6980 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, up from 5.6790 on Monday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.3790, versus 6.3780, and one British pound traded for 7.1120 Turkish liras, compared to 7.0920 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent oil sold for $63.56 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
