Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at open

Index gains over 300 points versus previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened Tuesday at 98,984.18 points, up 0.32% or 310.9 points.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 1.01% to close the day at 98,673.28 points with a daily trading volume of 5.1 billion Turkish liras ($914.2 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.5480 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, up from 5.5370 on Monday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.2200, versus 6.1930, and one British pound traded for 6.7620 Turkish liras, compared to 6.7350 at Tuesday's close.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $60.40 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
