Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at open

BIST 100 index earns around 100 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index increased 0.12% or 103.18 points on Friday to start the day at 89,614.06 points.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.48% at 89,510.88 points, with a daily trading volume of 10.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.6 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate climbed to 6.6920 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, versus 6.6410 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also rose to 7.2440, compared to 7.2150, and one British pound traded for 8.2980 Turkish liras, versus 8.2490 at Thursday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $29.90 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
