Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gains over 600 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day at 119,348.84 points on Thursday, up 0.54%, or 636.33 points.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.52% at 118,712.51 points with a daily trading volume of 29.2 billion Turkish liras ($4.25 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.8640 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Thursday, compared to 6.8670 at the midweek's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.8020 from 7.7550 and one British pound traded for 8.6960 Turkish liras, same with the Wednesday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $43.30 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
