Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at opening session

BIST 100 index gains some 440 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.36 %, or 439.10 points, on Thursday, to start the day at 121,377.89 points.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.40% at 120,938.78 points, with a daily trading volume of 14.5 billion Turkish liras ($2.47 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.8820 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, up from 5.8810 at Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.5630, versus 6.5590 , and one British pound traded for 7.6860 Turkish liras, versus 7.6760 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $64.36 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
