Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at Thursday open

BIST 100 index gains over 4.3 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,422.22 points on Thursday, up 0.31% or 4.33 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index ended Wednesday down 0.19% at 1,417.89 points, with a daily trading volume of 17.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.13 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 8.1600 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) from 8.1720 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 9.7000, down from 9.7320, while one British pound traded for 11.2600 Turkish liras, a drop from 11.2860.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $62.61 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
