Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up nearly 1pct at close

BIST 100 index up more than 900 points, while Turkish lira gains in value against foreign currencies

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index climbed 0.90 percent to close at 104,193.33 points on Monday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 103,564.09 points, gaining 926.75 points from the last week's close of 103,266.58 points.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.3770 at close, versus Friday's close of 5.3890.

The euro/lira rate fell to 6.1020 at Monday's close, versus 6.1380 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 7.1190 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 7.1420 at close on Friday.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,287.60 by market close, down from $1,309.00 at the previous close.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $66.10 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Monday.
