Turkey’s ruling party candidate elected Giresun mayor
Aytekin Senlikoglu receives some 30,000 votes
ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party's candidate has been elected mayor of the Black Sea province of Giresun, according to unofficial results on Sunday.
Aytekin Senlikoglu bagged 30,296 votes, while main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) candidate got 29,985 votes.
Earlier on Sunday, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
