Turkey's stock exchange market ends day with gains

BIST 100 index goes up 0.67 percent, rising nearly 650 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index went up 0.67 percent to close at 96,731.76 points on Tuesday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index recorded a 644.49-point hike, versus 96,087.27 points at Monday's close, while it started the day at 96,451.28 points.

At daily close, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.1390, while one dollar traded for 6.1260 liras at Monday's close.

The euro/lira rate was stable at 7.0330, compared to 7.0340 at the previous close, and the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 8.0240, versus 8.0100 at close on Monday.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was $1,185.00 at Tuesday's close, while the price was $1,193.70 at the previous close.

As of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), the price of Brent oil stood at around $84.68 per barrel, hovering between $83.73 and $85.05 during Tuesday's trading.

Since the beginning of this year, Brent oil price has risen from $66 a barrel.
