Turkey's stocks up 1.64 pct at close

BIST 100 index climbs over 1,430 points from previous close, US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stands around 5.41

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the last business day of the week up 1.64 percent to close at 88,830.82 points.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 1,431.80 points from previous close while it started Friday at 87,894.19 points.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.4160 at daily close, while one U.S. dollar traded for 5.5040 Turkish liras at Thursday's close.

The euro/lira rate stood at 6.1590, down from 6.2500 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 6.8580 Turkish liras, versus Thursday's close of 6.9250.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,290.15 by market close, compared with $1,287.45 at the previous close.

The price of Brent oil was around $57.86 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Friday, hovering between $55.37 and $58.13 during the day.
