DHAKA, Bangladesh (AA) – Turkey’s state-run aid agency on Thursday distributed 1,000 dry food packages in Cox Bazar, southern Bangladesh.
According to a written statement by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), the packages included date, flour, chickpea, potato, lentil, sugar, salt and onion to be distributed among destitute people.
“TIKA has made many works in every region of Bangladesh and has been distributing food packages in some places during the holy month of Ramadan to support the needy people,” TIKA’s Bangladesh coordinator Ismail Gundogdu said.
Describing Bangladesh as a brotherly country, he stated that the agency has been supporting the development and humanitarian activities in Bangladesh since 2014.
On May 7, the agency distributed 5,000 food packages to needy Rohingya Muslims on the occasion of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
In late April, TIKA also donated 5,000 personal care packages for the persecuted Rohingya.
On the eve of Ramadan on April 23, the agency along with some other Turkish humanitarian organizations donated emergency food aid packages for 3,000 poor households in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka.
