Turkic Council leaders to meet in Istanbul on Friday

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to host leaders of Turkic world

ANKARA (AA) – The leaders of the Turkic Council will meet in Istanbul on Friday, the international organization said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to a statement by the Turkic Council, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Kazakh President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will attend the summit.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev will also be among the participants of the meeting to be hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The leaders will discuss a variety of issues during the 8th summit of the Turkic Council organized under the theme of "Green Technologies and Smart cities in the digital age".

Turkey will take over the term presidency of the council from Azerbaijan after the summit, where the leaders will sign "Istanbul Declaration".

Ahead of the summit, foreign ministers of the Turkic Council member states will meet in Istanbul on Thursday for final work on the agenda items and documents to be signed.
