Vegetable storage built by TIKA in Henti province will help at least 500 vegetable growers

By Mehmet Sah Yilmaz

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's state-run aid agency built a 250-ton capacity underground vegetable warehouse in Mongolia's Henti province.

The warehouse spread over 300 square meters aims to lengthen the product's shelf life and increase their market value, said a statement by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

A variety of vegetables including potatoes, onions, courgettes and carrots are grown in the province.

Lack of vegetable storage is one of the biggest issues vegetable growers face in the country, an official from Henti governorate said.

"We thank TIKA and the Turkish Republic for making this project and supplying us with an underground storage area.

At least 500 citizens will make use of this storehouse, our people will be able to eat fresh veggies in all seasons," Herlenculuum Gantomor from Henti governorate added.

Making sustainable projects in agriculture and animal breeding is important for the country, TIKA's coordinator Emrah Ustaomer said.

Henti's vegetable production is expected to grow after the much-needed vegetable storehouse.
