Turkish aid agency's global 'prestige projects'
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency busy in Niger, Afghanistan, other countries

ANKARA (AA) - A number of “prestige projects” provided by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) are due to open in the coming months, the agency told Anadolu Agency on Friday.
In Niger, the agency, which operates in 54 countries, is planning to open a school for 1,260 students. The school will house 42 classrooms, eight laboratories and accommodation for 648 and is due to open in September.
TIKA is also planning a 51-bed hospital for mothers and children in Niamey and has also kitted the facility with medical equipment.
In Afghanistan, TIKA has built a technical institute that will provide training in electricity, mechanics, metalwork, natural gas and construction when it opens in the next academic year.
It will provide a dormitory, conference hall, library, dining hall, study and resting rooms, guest house and amphitheater for 600 students.
Established in 1992, TIKA is responsible for implementing Turkey's development policies overseas.
