Turkish Red Crescent’s head calls for blood donations

By Fatih Hafiz Mehmet

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Red Crescent has taken necessary measures to protect Syrian civilians in the aftermath of Turkish military’s operation in Syria’s Afrin, head of the aid agency said on Saturday.

In a Twitter post, Kerem Kinik said they have sent blood stocks near the operation area and called for more blood donations.

Kinik said Red Crescent staffers are taking necessary measures in coordination with Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) to provide multi-dimension humanitarian assistance and protection to civilians during the ‘Operation Olive Branch’.

"Our support will continue unstopped and indiscriminately," Kinik stressed.

Turkey has started “Operation Olive Branch" on Saturday at 5 p.m. [1400GMT] in Afrin to “eliminate terrorists of PKK/KCK/PYD-YPG and Daesh, and to protect the friendly and brotherly people of the region from their [the terrorists’] oppression and cruelty".
