Turkish army hits 6 PYD/PKK targets in Afrin op

Air operation conducted in southwestern of northern Syria's Mount Bursaya including Mount Baflune

AZEZ, Syria (AA) - Turkish Armed Forces on Thursday night hit six targets of the PYD/PKK terrorist organization during air operations as part of Turkey’s military operation in the northwestern Syrian city of Afrin, according to an Anadolu Agency reporter on Friday.

According to an Anadolu Agency reporter in the region, the Turkish Armed Forces hit six PYD/PKK targets during air operations including Mount Baflune, southwestern of Mount Bursaya which is under the control of Turkish Armed Forces and Free Syrian Army units (FSA).

Military sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, confirmed that the air operation started at midnight.

On Jan. 20, Turkey launched Operation Olive Branch to remove PYD/PKK and Daesh terrorists from Syria’s northwestern Afrin region.

According to the Turkish General Staff, the operation aims to establish security and stability along the Turkish borders and the region as well as to protect Syrians from terrorist oppression and cruelty.

The operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey’s rights based on international law, UN Security Council resolutions, its self-defense rights under the UN charter, and respect for Syria's territorial integrity, the military said.
