IDLIB, Syria (AA) - An Istanbul-based aid agency Friday dispatched an aid convoy for 2,000 disabled and needy people in Afrin, northwestern Syria.

Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) prepared aid packages for people in the district center of Afrin, and six villages, Mehmet Suayip Altun, the field supervisor of IHH in Syria, told Anadolu Agency.

The packages in the Olive Branch aid convoy included food, personal care items, and baby kits, Altun said.

The Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation has been helping war victims since the beginning of the Syrian civil war.

Since Afrin’s liberation in March of last year by Turkey’s Operation Olive Branch, the aid agency has distributed hot meals to an estimated one million Syrians.

In January of 2018, Turkey launched the operation with the stated aim of purging Afrin of YPG/PKK and Daesh terrorists.
