JAKARTA (AA) - Turkish Red Crescent’s humanitarian aid efforts continue in the tsunami and quake-hit Indonesia.

Their relief efforts for Indonesian quake and tsunami victims had started last year following a disaster in Palu, Indonesia.

We are working to meet the needs of people affected by the earthquake throughout the region, Abdullah Dogukan Donmez, regional representative of the Turkish Red Crescent told Anadolu Agency.

Donmez said that they have visited 89 families as part of the project of Direct Support to Disaster Affected Disabled Persons.

He also stressed that the foundation continues to distribute food aid to needy families in tent camps established in various regions.

The foundation has also started a project to build schools with 11 classrooms where 300 students can receive formal education, Donmez added.

The Turkish army has dispatched two aircraft to transport aid sent to disaster-hit Indonesia on Oct. 4.

Turkish Red Crescent has delivered various aids such as sleeping bags, tents, food and hygiene packages and iftar dinners to over 64,000 needy people so far.

On Sept. 28, 2018, a 7.5-magnitude earthquake and its resulting tsunami hit Palu, capital of the Central Sulawesi province, killing 4,340.
