ANKARA (AA) – An Ankara court on late Tuesday remanded 46 soldiers in custody as part of an investigation into the deadly July 15 coup attempt by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).

Speaking on the condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, a legal source told Anadolu Agency that an Ankara courthouse demanded the arrests of 59 soldiers - including officers – and referred them to criminal courts.

While 46 of the soldiers were remanded in custody,13 others were released under judicial control.

Turkey's government has repeatedly said the deadly coup attempt, which martyred at least 238 people and injured nearly 2,200 others, was organized by the followers of U.S.-based preacher, Fetullah Gulen.

Gulen is also accused of implementing a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary, forming what is commonly known as the parallel state.
