SANLIURFA, Turkey (AA) - The alleged head of a group affiliated with the terrorist PKK/PYD was remanded in court on Monday after his arrest while trying to enter Turkey from Syria, according to a security source.
In the southeastern province of Sanliurfa, acting on a tip, gendarmes apprehended the suspected terrorist YPS head, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
Provincial security sources said the suspect was carrying important terrorist documents and that he had been sent to reinforce the YPS, a terrorist PKK affiliate group, in Turkey.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the death of some 40,000 people. The PYD is its Syrian branch.
